In addition to transportation
and storage, the key processes
in materials handling often
include various types of dosing,
weighing and mixing. Tough
demands in terms of precision
and reliability are placed on
the equipment which deals with
these processes, which largely
determines the end result. A
wide range of designs, products
and solutions means that we can
deal with weighing and dosing
flows from upwards of 1,000
tonnes per hour down to 1 kg per
hour depending on need,
application and material.
The critical factor is the
integration of the scales,
control unit and hardware. Both
precision and speed are needed
in the interaction between
filling, weighing and emptying
in order to ensure sound
production. Our weighing
equipment uses load cells of the
highest measuring class from
leading manufacturers.
A good example of the degree of
precision which can be achieved
is the dosing of steel shot in
non-rebounding hammers. The
correct amount of shot (20 g +/-
1 g) must be weighed out and
then portioned into the head of
the hammer.
As mentioned, the combination of
speed and precision is vital.
This has led to the development
of type-approved hopper scales (see
picture 4) which can be filled,
weighed, emptied and reset up to
five times a minute.
Other applications include
hopper systems with weight
dosing for continuous handling
or batch-handling. Possible
output methods include feed
screws, unloading bellows or
bulk bags.
